What's new

Every Lapster release now has its notes in one place, going back to the first ones, and you can light a fire under the ones you like.

New

• What's new. Read the notes for every release at lapster.me/whats-new or in the web app, and tap the fire on a release you like.

Coming in the next iPhone update

• What's new. The release notes open from Settings, in About, with the same fire to tap.

In chats on the web you can now answer a specific message, with the original quoted above your reply.

New

• Reply to a message. On the web, use the Reply button beside a message or swipe it on a touch screen, and tap the quote to jump back to the original.

Improved

• Replies get through a mute. When someone answers one of your messages in a chat you muted, you still get a push notification.

Coming in the next iPhone update

• Reply to a message. Swipe a message or pick Reply from its menu to answer it with the original quoted above.
• Track screen. The map runs to the top edge, the record card shows your own best beside the record, and a track opens full screen from a session or lap.
• Team pages. A team's page now works like a rider profile, and its timing sheets can be searched and filtered.
• More haptic feedback. Saves, sends, syncs and imports answer with a success or failure tap.
• Rider profiles. Pulling down to refresh someone's profile keeps it on screen instead of blanking the page.

On the web, your chat list now says when a chat ends with a video note. The next iPhone update makes your profile a tab of its own.

Fixed

• Video notes in the chat list. On the web, a chat whose last message is a video note now reads "Video message" instead of just "Message".

Coming in the next iPhone update

• Your profile is a tab. The last tab is now your own profile, with your photo as its icon, and Settings open from the gear in its corner.
• Video notes in the chat list. A chat whose last message is a video note no longer reads "Message deleted".

A burst of reactions now arrives as one notification, and video notes no longer show a squashed picture. Track records and more come in the next iPhone update.

Improved

• Fewer reaction pings. Several quick reactions from one rider on your session, story, comment or vehicle now arrive as one notification.

Fixed

• Video notes no longer show a squashed picture before they play.
• Removing your reaction from someone's chat message and adding it back no longer raises their unread reactions count again.

Coming in the next iPhone update

• Track records. A card on your profile opens a screen with the record lap for each track.
• Record posters. Share a track record to your story as a bold poster.
• Turn the lap screen sideways. A new button in the map controls turns the lap screen to landscape without turning the phone.
• Photo viewer. Tap to hide the controls, scrub with a thumbnail strip, and swipe past either end to wrap around.
• Full storage. The app no longer crashes when the phone's storage is full.

Answer a comment right where it is, and on iPhone a track you create from your ride remembers which way a lap runs.

New

• Inline reply. The reply box opens in place of the Reply button with the rider's @username filled in, on iPhone and the web.
• Crossing direction. On iPhone, a track you create from your own ride remembers which way you crossed its start and finish line, so a pass the wrong way no longer cuts a lap there.
• Focus on the lap. On iPhone, switch the lap screen to just the map and your speed, and back.
• Video notes start sooner. On iPhone, a video note starts playing once about a second of it has loaded, and one you just recorded shows its picture with a progress ring while it uploads.

Improved

• Record button. In chats on iPhone, the record button is one gradient disc showing the mic or camera, and the lock you slide up to while recording carries a padlock.
• Chat on iPhone stays pinned to the bottom while new rows grow, and a double tap reacts with your default emoji.
• Corner map. In corner battle on iPhone, the map eases back into place when you drag it too far, and on iOS 18 or later it follows your fingers while you pinch.

Fixed

• On iPhone, Leave Group in a group's settings is now greyed out with the reason when you are its only admin, instead of a red button that did nothing.

On iPhone, a RaceBox Mini S or Micro ride with no complete laps is no longer thrown away.

New

• Rides without laps. On iPhone, a RaceBox Mini S or Micro ride that went round but timed no complete laps is kept with its GPS trace and marked "Waiting for a track".
• Pick the track later. On iPhone, open the waiting ride, pick a track or create one from the ride, and the app cuts its laps on that track's start and finish line.

Improved

• Wall posts. On iPhone you can write and send your next comment while a photo post is still uploading.
• RaceBox Pro. On iPhone, the connection recovers after a cancelled or failed transfer.

Fixed

• When a ride is moved to another track, its laps and leaderboard places move with it.

On iPhone, photos open and close smoothly, and phone rides are far less likely to be lost.

New

• Photos open from their thumbnail. On iPhone, a photo on a wall or in a chat grows out of its thumbnail and folds back into it.
• Pull photos down. On iPhone and the web, the whole photo viewer follows your finger as you pull it down to close it.

Improved

• Phone rides. On iPhone, a ride that moved but could not be timed is kept, and a ride the app never got to stop is recovered.
• Karts. On iPhone, start and finish detection works better for karts and low-rate phone GPS.

Fixed

• On iPhone, joining a public team now takes effect on screen, and a failed join says so.
• Rides of accounts Lapster has blocked no longer show through shared links, link previews or track records.

The track library loads faster, and on iPhone the lap screen carries into landscape when you turn the phone.

Improved

• Track library loads faster on iPhone and the web, and on iPhone its map reopens almost instantly.
• Lap screen turns with you. On iPhone, turning the phone on a lap carries the map, readout and chart into the landscape layout instead of switching to a separate screen.
• Wall posts. On iPhone, a photo or lap posted with words now sits in its own block, with the words in a bubble under it.
• Story comments. On iPhone, GIF, photo and lap comments on a story now fly into place, as they do on every other wall.
• Deleting a message on the web lets the dust drift away before the chat closes the gap.

A brand-new rider now sees real rides on Home, and the wordmark shows your connection.

New

• Demo rides. A rider with no sessions sees curated rides and the past month's stories on Home, on iPhone and the web.
• Connection dot. The dot after Lapster. turns grey and says Offline when your device has no network, on iPhone and the web.

Lapster.

• Upload link with no deadline. A team can hand out a protocol upload link that never expires, on iPhone and the web.
• Share a protocol to Lapster. On iPhone, open a timing PDF from the share sheet and pick your name on it.

Improved

• Photo posts appear on the wall the moment you press Send and fly into place, on iPhone.
• Reactions now sit inside the session poster on iPhone, and the session's three most-used emojis float in its corner.

Timing-sheet sessions get their own look, and a new Review screen on iPhone shows how your laps changed.

New

• Review. On iPhone, pick a corner and a measure and see how it changed lap by lap across a session recorded on your phone.
• React to a session. On iPhone, react with an emoji to another rider's session, on its screen or from its notification, and see who reacted on its poster.

🔥3 👏2 😮 ❤️ 🏁1

• Protocol sessions. Sessions made from a timing sheet have their own design on iPhone and the web.
• Deleted messages turn to dust. A deleted chat message dissolves into fine dust, on iPhone and the web.
• Comments land on the wall. A comment you send drops into place with a short shine, on iPhone and the web.

Improved

• Session poster is now the header of every device session on iPhone.
• Profile stats on the web now lead with your best lap and its track, as on iPhone.
• GPS status on the iPhone riding dashboard says whether laps are being timed, not how many satellites are up.
